Your first child is special to you in many ways. You only want what is best him or her. You want him to learn many things that the world can offer. * You and your child must physically, mentally and psychologically be prepared for the potty training. Potty training is not an easy process so always arm yourself with what will happen and how your child will react to the practice.

* You must have a talk with your child. Tell him that potty is essential to everyone even to animals and that we all go to potty. Discuss the benefits of potty and tell him that regular urination and bowel movement is healthy. This will encourage him to use the potty without any fear or hesitation

* Allow him to do things independently in the potty. Let him flush the potty and make him observe how safe and helpful it is. Also, when your child is a girl, let her wipe from front to back and not from back to front of her private part to avoid any infection or unpleasant bacteria from spreading on that area.

* Let your child wear easy clothes. Put away clothes that are difficult to wear until potty training is over. Easy clothes allow your child to use the potty without obstacles. The same goes with your child’s undies. The undies should not be too tight or too loose.

* Involve your child in potty shopping. This will give your child an idea that the world is a place where potty activity is important and not unusual.

* Think of ways to encourage your child to use the potty every now and then. You may reward or praise your child for every successful potty and cooperation he has shown.
